Heart Gloucestershire originally launched in 1980 as Severn Sound, serving Gloucester, Cheltenham, and the surrounding area with local music, news, and entertainment. The station became a well-known voice for listeners across the county.

In March 2009, Severn Sound was rebranded as Heart, joining Global Radio’s Heart Network. Today, Heart Gloucestershire plays the biggest hits and feel-good favourites, alongside local news, travel updates, and entertainment for listeners across Gloucestershire.
