Heart North Lancashire & Cumbria originally launched as Red Rose Radio in 1982, serving Preston and the surrounding Lancashire area, and later expanded to cover parts of Cumbria. The station became well-known for local music, news, and community programming.

In 2009, Red Rose Radio and its sister services were rebranded as Heart, joining Global Radio’s Heart Network. Today, Heart North Lancashire & Cumbria plays the biggest hits and feel-good favourites, alongside local news, travel updates, and entertainment for listeners across the region.
