About BBC Radio Kent
BBC Radio Kent is the BBC’s local radio station serving the county of Kent. It originally launched as BBC Radio Medway on 18 December 1970, broadcasting to the Medway Towns. The station expanded to cover the entire county on 2 July 1983, adopting the name BBC Radio Kent.
Broadcasting from studios in Tunbridge Wells, BBC Radio Kent provides a mix of local news, traffic updates, weather, music, sports, and community programming. Weekday local shows run from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm, while evenings, nights, and weekends feature regional programming shared with other BBC local stations and networked BBC services.
The station is available across multiple platforms, including FM (96.7 MHz, 97.6 MHz, 104.2 MHz), DAB 11C, Freeview 711, and online via BBC Sounds. BBC Radio Kent is committed to keeping the Kent community informed, highlighting local events, interviewing community leaders, and providing coverage of cultural and sporting events across the county.
